Mission Statement

The Tritium Matters Working Group (TMWG) is an international cohort of nonpartisan tritium experts and stakeholders collaborating to ensure the safe production, transfer, containment, and optimal use of tritium while minimizing nuclear risks. Tritium is a key component in most nuclear weapons, a valuable commercial product that could one day fuel fusion energy, and a radiological concern for the environment and human health. These three broad areas of policy and research should be approached in parallel and as part of an integrated research program. The group will synthesize multi-disciplinary expertise with technically robust analyses to survey existing research and generate coherent, forward-looking policy recommendations focused on tritium.
